WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR INITIAL VISIT?

Your initial visit with Dr Sarah Jane will last approximately 45 minutes and includes a consultation, a life history, nervous system and energetic interpretation and treatment. We also will review what is working and not working in your life, and what you would like to see change. You will receive your first gentle and energetic Network Elignment, also called an entrainment or session. In addition, Dr. Sarah Jane will give you a feeling of what her unique approach can do for you, and we will discuss what you noticed, what we found and how your system responded during the session. We will give you authentic and realistic recommendations for care which outlines how you can progress and achieve results.

WHAT WILL NETWORK SPINAL/ENERGETIC WORK DO FOR ME?

NS and the energetic work that Dr Sarah Jane utilises helps you to use the energy within your spinal tension to fuel the healing process. Network helps your internal cues to become so available that you can more often act, think, feel, and respond in a more productive and healthier fashion. Through a specified plan of Network Elignments or Entrainments/Sessions, you will progress through a series of Levels of Care, which over time will enable you to: better adapt to your environment and its stresses; make healthier life choices; develop a healthier nervous system; and live a more fulfilling and enriched life.

WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF NETWORK OR ENERGETIC CARE WITH DR SARAH JANE?

Through Network and Energetic Care, we will assist your body to develop new and better strategies for effective living and greater healing. These strategies will help you:

  • Establish the capacity of your nervous system to connect and release areas of tension, and impaired function

  • Enhance your ability to generate automatic respirations and movements that help your spine and nervous system to dissipate tension, increase circulation and energy flow, and promote healing

  • Develop an effective and trusting relationship with your spine, nervous system, body, and your healing process

  • Monitor improvement in coordinated function of nerves, muscles, vertebrae, and soft tissues that promotes a healthy spine and nervous system

  • Assist your body in removing spinal interference to communication between your brain and the cells of your body, increasing your body’s ability to properly respond to its experiences, challenges, and needs

  • Develop lifetime strategies for self-awareness and healing

  • Assess the significant improvement in your health and quality of life through a very wide range of indicators

  • Monitor your progress with periodic clinical re-evaluations performed by Dr Sarah JanE

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A REGULAR NETWORK CARE VISIT?

Network /Energetic Care as you receive it is a system of gentle or light touches and body movements that help enable the body’s healing systems and mechanisms. This application helps the body have a greater awareness and move away from defense toward growth and healing. NS “feels” good because there is no abruptness and no need to become tense while on the table. You may notice your body “moving” as your body begins to experience a “healing wave.” Many people report after a session a deep sense of peace or calm and generally are very relaxed.

We do both PRIVATE (one on one) and GROUP SESSIONS (you may be in a room with one or a few others). Most of the time you will be lying on a table face down, fully clothed except for your shoes off. This makes it easier to perform a leg check for spinal tension patterns, observe respiration, muscular tension patterns and movement, as well as better enable us to palpate your spine. Every so often you may be asked to fill out a form, a wellness evaluation, to assess your progress and establish if any changes should be made in your care. These forms will be reviewed and discussed with Dr Sarah Jane during progress and re-evaluations.

WHY ARE GENTLE CONTACTS PERFORMED MOSTLY ON THE NECK AND LOWER SPINE?

As far as a gentle touch, this is consistent with Network Spinal/Energetic work. The intent is to enable the body’s own self-generated mechanisms of movement and respiration to assist in the correction of mechanical tension and interference to the nervous system, promoting better strategies for you and your body. The care is a continuum of increasing spinal awareness and self-corrective efficiency. A gentle touch adjustment has been demonstrated to be effective to achieve these ends. Since the regions Dr Sarah Jane is seeking to affect are not the regions of maximum tension, fixation, inflammation or pain, but instead regions often remote from them likely to generate these conditions, minimal force is required for correction. The body has a striving to be self-corrective and utilize its energy most efficiently. The body’s own self-organizational intelligence responds to the specific touch to generate a change. The neck and low spine are the major regions of attention in Network Care, since these are the regions where the spinal cord itself is attached to the vertebral column. Therefore, altered tension from these regions can have widespread, or global, spinal and nervous system consequences warranting specific clinical intervention.

WHAT ARE THESE 'HEALING WAVES' YOU MENTION?

Through Network Care, the brain may generate two waves that are associated with dissipation of energy, enhanced vertebral motion, coordination of the spinal subsystems, and enhanced well-being. These are known as the Respiratory and Somatopsychic waves and are unique to Network Care. The Respiratory wave is characterized by a full and profound natural rhythmic breathing which begins at the base of the spine, progresses upward between the shoulder blades, around the shoulders, and into the neck. It naturally gently rocks the vertebrae “melting” tension and enhancing the development of your body’s emerging strategies of wellness. The Somatopsychic Wave (soma for body, psyche for mind or spirit) is associated with muscular contraction which pulsates and organizes various spinal segments into a fluid wave-like coordinated motion. These wave mechanisms are currently being studied at the University of Southern California to better characterize them and to evaluate their potential role in the body’s reorganization to a higher level. During the Network sessions, your practitioner may position your spine to allow for a more effective redistribution of energy, improved coordination of the spinal integrity subsystems, and an enhancement of full spinal involvement in these “healing waves.”

WHAT SHOULD I DO DURING A NETWORK SPINAL ADJUSTMENT?

  • For the few moments while you are receiving your Network Entrainment, close your eyes and suspend your thoughts and bring your attention to your body and breathe. This helps educate the mind to let go of the attachment to observing outside oneself and thinking.   Conscious thoughts interfere with your feelings often distracting you from the healing process.  Feel what the body is wanting and simply pay attention. You will notice that you will almost immediately start to breathe more deeply. Pay attention to the movements of your body, too.  You will be amazed at how much tension can be dissipated.

  • Breathe deeply, no more deeper than comfortable. This allows for easier release of old patterns locked in the spine and nervous system and helps to integrate the Network Entrainment.

  • In each Level of Care, your level of active participation in the process will increase in complexity and attention while simultaneously you are learning new inherent strategies for living and healing. As your wellness facilitator, we will communicate in each level what we want you to be aware of and coach you during your visits.

IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD AVOID BEFORE A NETWORK ENTRAINMENT?

Avoid heavy meals or alcohol three hours prior to your Network Entrainment and wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing to allow for easy respiration.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER NETWORK ENTRAINMENTS?

Please take a 5-minute walk before you drive, or stay for a cup of tea in our reception or kitchen area.

HOW LONG DOES A NETWORK ENTRAINMENT TAKE?

A Network Entrainment can take around 30 minutes depending on the level of care and what is needed that day (we also have 45min and 1 hour appointments). Please do not plan something straight after your appointment, as we can run late due to the nature of this work.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN MY HEALING PROCESS?

  • Practice Somato Respiratory Integration™ exercises at home.  You can learn to do these exercises in our office and read The Twelve Stages of Healing book that describes these exercises in detail, written by Dr. Donald Epstein, the developer of Network Spinal Analysis™. We often email you SRI exercises.

  • Breathwork practices and Yoga

  • Trauma Release Exercises (We will prescribe these to you)

  • Participate in our classes that describe the Network Spinal Analysis Levels of Care and demonstrate the unique Healing Waves. (Currently not running due to Co Vid)

  • Read about, listen to healing and unifying principles of life.

  • Find solutions to life situations by going within and ask your innate self for the answer, be still, listen and feel for a response. The communication lines will be opening as you receive Network Care.

  • Listen for the commonly unheard, feel for the commonly unfelt, and look within for the commonly unseen. Healing involves growing beyond one’s usual frame of consciousness.  Healing is rarely comfortable or convenient.  Recognize that change will occur in your body-mind and in your life. You are the solution.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR TO MEASURE MY PROGRESS?

You should start to feel more awareness of your body and breath. You might feel that the length of your steps is different; you will see you carry your body differently. As you progress along, the spine revitalizes, energizes, and helps the body to self-correct distortions of alignment and posture.

IS NS GOOD FOR CHILDREN?

Absolutely! NSA is wonderful for the entire family, and we highly recommend that everyone be in care together. Everyone can benefit from living in greater connection to themselves and the world.

I'M PREGNANT. SHOULD I WAIT UNTIL AFTER I HAVE MY BABY TO START?

NS is perfect for the expecting mother, both for its gentle application as well as its effective results and outcomes. For the first 4-5 months during pregnancy, NSA care is performed without variation. After 5 months, contacts are made while using body pillows and lying on your side. Pregnant women experience many great advantages under Network Care, and many report smoother pregnancies and labors.

LEVELS OF CARE

Levels of Care

Care is advanced through a series of Levels, each producing specific new abilities to adapt to the environment, make healthier choices, enjoy life, and develop a healthier spine. During care, two spinal “healing” waves develop which help improve spinal and neural integrity, adaptability, and significantly advance wellness as well as quality of life.

Level 1: Basic Care – Connect and Release

GOALS OF LEVEL 1 CARE: SPINAL RECOVERY (BETTER MOVEMENT AND FLEXIBILITY)

  • To release your spinal system from its major dominant holding patterns.

  • To restore your natural spinal curves, even if only briefly.

  • To achieve a fullness of breath throughout your spine, from one end to another.

  • To see changes in areas of spinal facilitation (“muscle spasm” and tenderness).

  • To see changes in spinal ranges of motion (you can move more freely).

  • For you to become AWARE of these changes in your spine.

  • Development of Somatorespiratory “healing” wave (body-breath wave).

IN LEVEL 1 CARE YOU MAY NOTICE:

  • Your body’s response to adjustments.

  • Changes in spinal musculature during and between visits.

  • Ease or lack of ease in movements.

  • Changes in respiration during and between visits.

  • Changes in your spinal curves and posture.

  • Regions where tension is stored.

  • Regions of both discomfort and ease.

  • Your body’s natural rhythms and tendencies (sleep, diet, exercise, relationships).

Level 2: Intermediate Care – Refine and Transform

GOALS OF LEVEL 2 CARE:

  • Spinal adaptation from current physical, emotional, mental, and chemical stress.

  • To correct the more chronic or underlying patterns or spinal distortions.

  • Development of the Somatopsychic “healing” wave (body-mind wave).

IN LEVEL 2 CARE YOU MAY NOTICE:

  • The connection between spinal regions during the adjustment.

  • Spontaneous movements during and after adjustments that aid in the reduction of spinal tension.

  • The relationship between environmental stress and spinal stress.

  • The way in which patterns differ from one another.

  • The deeper level patterns begin to surface, as the body feels safe enough to reveal them.

  • The relationship between stresses and symptoms.

  • The relationship of respiration to stress and to adjustments.

  • A greater awareness of how the body-mind and parts are all connected.

  • An awakening of areas that seem to have been asleep.

  • Changes in habits such as exercise, your sleep, your diet, relationships, etc.

Level 3-4: Advanced Care – Awaken and Expand

GOALS OF LEVEL 3-4 CARE:

  • Enjoy a healthier spine, nervous system, and body.

  • Help the body learn self-correction by specific positioning of the body.

  • Greater body awareness and participation in healing.

  • Make changes in your life to better support your healing.

  • Development of Somatopsychic wave into the heart.

IN LEVEL 3 AND 4 CARE YOU MAY NOTICE:

  • Naturally occurring spontaneous spinal and extremity “unwinding” movements occur during and between Network Adjustments.

  • These movements occur without conscious thought and can alleviate spinal and life-stress accumulation.

  • The body at times will create movements that actually will increase spinal stress and tension, culminating with a release of tension and often an audible vertebral release or adjustment.

  • The awareness that the body and mind are one.

  • The body has an inner knowing and the ability to self-correct.

  • The regions of the spine and body that are less mobile are more noticeable compared to the movement and ease in other regions. This often occurs without the necessity of pain.

  • Spontaneous breathing patterns assist in improving the craniosacral respiratory mechanism, releasing stressful situations, and assisting in adjustments.

  • The need to make changes in one’s life that better support your healing.

  • The participation in one’s physiology as compared to one’s thoughts alone.

  • The unintentional participation with others in their environment in reciprocal or simultaneous unwinding, or self-correction movements and respirations.

  • More capable of self-correction through movement, breathing, and fully living life.

  • Knowing by experience more of your connection with the body-mind and the world.

If you have any questions about levels of care, please bring this up in your next session with Dr Sarah Jane or email drsarahjaneperri@gmail.com

Benefits of Open Room/Group Session Environment

This practice utilizes an “open/group” environment for some ongoing visits with Dr Sarah Jane. “Open or Group Room Sessions” involves 2-4 clients being seen in the same room at the same
time to increase the benefits of being in a multi energetic field. The use of this format is intended to enhance your response to
network and energetic care, by synchronizing with others who are at different levels of care to yourself. If you choose not to have sessions in an open/group environment other arrangements can be made for you.

With Network Spinal (NS) we work uniquely and differently. You will notice that there are a few tables in the room. With this system we expect a change with each contact we make. After a contact I need to give your mind and body time to make a change and process the unwinding of tension (chemical, emotional or physical), which is when I go to the other tables before coming back to check on your energetic system. During this time I want you to pay attention to what you feel altering in your body with respect to breath/energy/movement.

Please commit to the process each time that you lay on the table- the journey is only worthwhile with your dedication and openness to what you are experiencing- we encourage release of sound, breath and movement.

When you sit up at the end of the visit, I will tell you what I observed and also ask you what you felt during the session.

Benefits

- Research shows that people who have NS/energetic work in an open room/group session progress further and faster
through the levels of care.

- Witnessing other people’s movement, breath and waves opens the door for realizing that this is possible for you.

- The focus we put on you and your care will be enhanced by the group room. If necessary, discussion of private matters is always possible in one on one sessions.

- It is good to be in communal environment to realise that you are not alone and are a part of the en light n. community. Many friendships are born right here!

- We live in a crazy world; we don't live in a quiet peaceful room. Optimising your nervous system when there is noise and distractions around, will help you deal with general day to day stresses and strains more efficiently.
For example; if expressing yourself is a challenge for you, then hearing expression from others during your entrainment/session will teach your body how you can relax and heal in that situation, rather than become stressed, tense and defensive.

- People tend to tune in to the person with the best energy level. For example; at a party, there are certain people everyone wants to be with; it is the same in the group room.

- NS practice members often stretch, move and express emotions. I often observe if one person cries then others (who would normally find it hard to express their emotions) may suddenly find the freedom to let go too.

- In the group room, you will tune into what is happening and you will get to see what is possible in the more advanced stages of care.

- The model of ‘synchronisation’ makes a lot of sense as it helps explain how things affect each other energetically – here’s a good link: https://gizmodo.com/watch-32-discordant-metronomes-achieve-synchrony-in-a-m-5947112

- Our bodies seek the most amount of stability of function with the least effort. So your body isn't interested in picking up other peoples ‘stuff’. Instead, when someone around you makes a shift in the optimal direction, you also get some of that change. When you are
around anyone in their time of change, your own change becomes accessible and intensified.

- It helps to have the energy of other people’s healing process in the same room.

- You will also benefit from other people who have more experience of the process. You also get to preview the skills you will be learning/experiencing down the line.
